Become a More Effective Leader with this 100% Online Course developed by Dr. Larry Lezotte. With 39 Steps to guide you through the process, each topic teaches relevant leadership skills, a deeper understanding of the
effective schools research framework, and a coherent process for improving
schools and school districts. At the end of the day, we believe that, as a
result of your participation in this program, you will be a better leader,
armed with the skills and encouragement you need to make your school more
effective and a place where students will find success.
The Effective Schools Leadership
program consists of two distinct parts:
Part 1 includes The Leadership Kit, a set
of three books; Assembly Required: A Continuous School Improvement System
and its companion Implementation Guide, plus Stepping Up: Leading the
Charge to Improve Our Schools. These books are included in your registration fee.
Part 2 is the online portion of the
program. It is designed for easy navigation and includes video lectures as well
as activities and assignments to be completed by you as you proceed through the
program. The recommended readings are carefully integrated with the online
portion of the program so that it is easy for you to keep track of the readings
that are associated with each video clip, assignment, and activity. Upon
completion of the online assignments and activities, you will be able to print
out a portfolio of all your work for your own use, or to be forwarded for CEU
credit, if applicable.
In addition, you have the option to add a program mentor to the course for only $200 more. The role of mentors is to provide feedback and general
comment to you as you complete the various assignments. Finally, your mentor
will provide you with a certificate attesting to the fact that you successfully
completed all the assignments when the course work is completed.
This Online Leadership Program is so
user-friendly you won’t even have to remember where you left off. Navigation is

Does your school use interactive video conferencing for teaching? Perhaps you’ve connected your students with NASA or the Smithsonian for a virtual interactive experience that brings learning alive.
Now you can do the same thing with the adult learners in your school with IVC professional development from renowned educational speaker and consultant, Dr. Larry Lezotte.
Using technology you already have, you can bring Dr. Lezotte’s expertise and insight into your school or district, saving you the logistics and expense of staff travel. Because it’s interactive, your staff will interact with Dr. Lezotte in real time, asking and answering questions, and participating in activities and discussions. You can record the presentation so that those who couldn’t attend can “catch up” later.
IVC Professional Development can be used as a stand-alone, one-time program or keynote, or part of a comprehensive training program that encompasses several sessions over a longer period of time. Dr. Lezotte offers several presentations that would be appropriate for your entire staff, school leadership teams, or district task forces. Each topic can be offered as an overview in a single presentation, or as a multi-session training.
- The Enduring Fundamentals of Effective Schools: The Correlates. Effective schools are more alike than they are different. They share fundamental characteristics that have come to be known as the Correlates of Effective Schools. Every successful school reform effort, today and throughout the past 3 decades, has resulted from the effective implementation of these 7 critical principles. Dr. Lezotte can offer you an overview of all seven correlates in a single presentation, or you can take a more in-depth approach over several sessions where your staff will learn how to address each correlate in their schools.
- The Effective Schools Continuous School Improvement Process. Improved student achievement doesn’t come from a single new program, policy, or procedure. Real, lasting improvements come from an integrated approach that starts with creating a vision and mission, building a collaborative and inclusive process, and taking a stark look at reality through the use of data. Only then can educators plan and implement significant and sustainable improvements in student achievement. In this presentation, Dr. Lezotte shows you the step-by-step framework that effective schools use to accomplish the learning-for-all mission.
- Leading the Charge to Improve Our Schools. What will it take to lead comprehensive and effective school reform that results in improved student achievement? How can leaders create positive change in their schools and districts within the current educational turmoil? In this presentation, Dr. Lezotte describes what leaders need to know and be able to do, and offers opportunities for self-reflection and group discussion that will improve the leadership skills of experienced, new or aspiring leaders.

Since that time, Dr. Lezotte has been at the forefront of the effective schools movement. He identified the components of a learner-centered system, as well as the theories and tools necessary for successful and sustainable school improvement. One educator describes Lezotte’s contribution to the school improvement area like this: “He has helped educators at all levels to think differently about school reform and he has changed the entire landscape of what we mean by continuous school improvement.” In recognition of his efforts, Dr. Lezotte has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Brock International Prize in Education in 2009. The award is given annually to recognize an individual for innovative and effective ideas in education resulting in a significant impact on the practice or understanding of the field of education.
As a nationally renowned educational consultant and speaker, Dr. Lezotte has devoted his 30-year career to helping schools assure that all students learn. Utilizing the Correlates as a foundation, Dr. Lezotte has taught thousands of educators across the U.S. and Canada how to create systems that lead to the ongoing improvement of student learning. He continues this important work today, challenging educators to embrace the learning-for-all mission, and showing them how to meet that challenge.
